April Tools

604-883-0539

This annual wooden boat challenge, held at Seafarer’s Park since 2002, is organized by the Pender Harbour Living Heritage Society. The entry fee is $160; $1,350 in cash prizes is available.

Teams provided with identical sets of construction materials and their own tools have three hours to build boats to race in the afternoon (some are almost fast, others almost seaworthy). Includes small boat show, steam-bending and kayak-building demos, kids’ activities and concessions. Hand tools are the rule, with the exception of cordless screwdrivers.

Congratulations to the Fireflies team (Garden Bay firefighters Kerry Rand, Bruno Cote, Dave Gobel and Dustin Ouellette), April Tools winners for the sixth consecutive year (2008).

Community Invitational Volleyball Tournament

Two days of intense, non-professional volleyball with teams from the Sunshine Coast and Lower Mainland/Greater Vancouver at Pender Harbour Secondary School, starts at 9 a.m. Pre-register, $160 per team.
