Iona C Dedicated
Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, the Honourable Iona Campagnolo, christened the Pender Harbour Marine Rescue Society’s newly built vessel, the Iona C, in a Sept. 8, 2007, Seafarer’s Park (Madeira Park wharf) ceremony. Her honour smashed a bottle of champagne on the vessel’s hull and was given a tour of the inner waters of Pender Harbour on her namesake. The event was attended by dignitaries from the Canadian Coast Guard, Area Director John Rees and Pender Harbour Marine Rescue Society members. The Iona C is a replacement for the society’s first vessel, the Harold Clay.
