Singer Penny Lang hosts Soup & Song Saturdays at St. Andrew’s the third Saturday of the month (check the Calendar for dates). Beginning at 5pm, these informal get-togethers include a bowl of soup, music and poetry.

Pender Harbour Community Club

Manages the Pender Harbour Community Hall, offers hall rentals and organizes events including swap meets, Pender Harbour May Day, Spring Bazaar and Thursday night Bingo.

Members meet the second Monday of the month, June-September, at 7 p.m. Membership is $5 (single) or $10 (family) and the AGM is in February.

Pender Harbour Community School Society

The Pender Harbour Community School Society operates the Pender Harbour Community School, which offers leisure, recreation and non-credit education in Madeira Park. The 2007 board of directors is Jan Watson (chair), David Bradley, Amy Perry, David Thompson, Bonnie Lindsay, Jackie Grant, Eric Graham and Wendie Milner.

Our community seniors' group meets every Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the School of Music for socializing, outings and to hear guest speakers. Admission, which includes a hot lunch, is $5.

Veterans & Associates

Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 112

Legion, 604-883-0055

Our Legion was established in 1947 and, in 1974, constructed their own building in Madeira Park. It operates a bar and kitchen, provides hall rentals, donates a bursary, provides DVA (Dept. of Veteran Affairs) referrals, is home to the Legion Pipe Band and holds an annual Fishing Derby, Ladies Night, Robbie Burns Night, Remembrance Day Parade and other events.

Members meet the third Monday of the month (except July and August) at 7 p.m. Richard Frappier is president. Offsite link: Veteran’s Affairs Canada.
