Formerly the Hotel Lake Water Conservation Association, AAQWA formed in 2003 to ensure provision of safe and ample drinking water for residents. Membership is free. The AGM is held in August. Offsite link: AAQWA.

Bear Bay Stewardship Alliance

The Bear Bay Stewardship Alliance (BBSA) formed in 2007, in response to proposed logging north of Bear Bay Road. The BBSA is concerned about the loss of recreational assets, an existing trail and potential future trails, harm to the tourism industry and Sakinaw Lake sockeye, degrading of shallow water wells and danger from logging trucks on Bear Bay Road. Egmont Logging Advisory Committee

Partially in response to the Friends of Egmont’s Save Our Watershed campaign, Regional Director John Rees facilitated formation an advisory committee to work with Tsain-Ko Development Corporation in the hope of controlling upcoming logging in the area. The group hopes to change logging practices and pressure the provincial government to further restrict activity in watersheds. The committee, formed in Aug. 2007, is made up of Egmont and Ruby Lake residents George Connell, Ron Fearn, Kim Foster, Doug Imbeau, Norma Martin, Catherine McEachern, Martin Mees and Marueen (Griffith) Parrott..

Garbage Recycling in Pender Society

GRIPS manages the recycling depot at Hwy. 101 & Menacher Rd. and promotes recycling awareness. Funded by the SCRD (taxation), depot income and donations.

Pender Harbour & District Wildlife Society

With a focus on habitat conservation, the Pender Harbour and District Wildlife Society assists in land stewardship and parks protection, supports nature initiatives and hosts guest speakers. Activities include nature walks, bird counts, purple loose strife removal, recycling, purple martin reintroduction, Madeira Park Wetlands project and Ambrose Lake Ecological Reserve. Membership $20 or $25 for a family. Everyone is welcome at meetings— bring your own cup for complimentary coffee.
