Biking in the Pender Harbour Area
Bicycles
A network of unofficial and informal, but well-maintained, mountain-bike trails exist on the Caren Range (see Offroading), but you are advised to avoid residential streets and the highway.
There are no sidewalks, shoulders are narrow or non-existent, and numerous corners are blind. To make a dangerous situation worse, drivers often have no room to negotiate around a cyclist.
Motorcycles
The Sunshine Coast Highway is a biker’s dream with its dips, curves, picturesque destinations and year-round riding weather.
But, watch for loose gravel where side roads meet the highway, watch for deer and elk, and note that the RCMP rarely forgive speed violations.
