BC Ambulance Service
Emergency - 911
As part of the BC Ambulance Service, one vehicle is stationed at the Madeira Park Firehall to serve the area from Pender Harbour to Egmont with a team of on-call paramedics.
Patients are usually transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Sechelt, about a half-hour away, but some initial treatments can be performed at the nearby Pender Harbour Health Centre. An air ambulance is called for patients who must be quickly transported to Vancouver for specialty emergency treatment.

Coast Guard Auxiliary Unit 61

Unit 61 of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, Pacific Region, is based in Madeira Park to provide emergency marine assistance in the area. Volunteers also promote boating safety and co-host the Sunshine Coast Wooden Boat Festival every summer in Madeira Park.

Marine Rescue Society
The Pender Harbour Marine Rescue Society supports and administers local marine rescue services delivered by Unit 61 of the Coast Guard Auxiliary (above).
News
2007 - MV Iona C Dedicated - Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, the Honourable Iona Campagnolo, christened Unit 61’s newly built vessel, the Iona C, in a smashing (champagne bottle) ceremony at Seafarer’s Park. Her Honour was given a tour of the inner waters of Pender Harbour on her namesake. The event was attended by Coast Guard and local dignitaries. The Iona C replaces the society’s first vessel, the Harold Clay, named after long-time Unit 61 member and Pender Harbour resident, the late Harold Clay.

Pender Harbour Fire Dept. volunteers are trained to operate and staff fire stations in Madeira Park and Garden Bay, promote and provide fire-safety education and awareness, and hold the annual Hallowe'en Fireworks.
Fire practice is held Tuesday evenings, new recruits are welcome.

There is no police station in Pender Harbour (the nearest is Sechelt) but the RCMP regularly patrol the area, issue traffic violation tickets and respond to emergency calls.

Volunteers operate a lost-and-found depot, coordinate Block Watch, accept liquor event applications, provide criminal record check forms, lend engraving equipment (for property identification) and operate a Child ID Program.
