Longboarding
Pender Harbour is home to world champion downhill longboard racer and Team Green member, Scoot Smith, home to the annual Attack of Danger Bay longboard race and alma mater to Coast Longboarding founder, Bricin Lyons.
You can longboard year-round in Pender Harbour... well, most years, and the community is totally behind this sport. Boards, parts, gear and clothing are available at Harbour Boutique in Madeira Park.
Attack of Danger Bay
The annual Attack of Danger Bay longboard festival every May is highlighted by a downhill race that was the first major Canadian downhill longboard event and remains the biggest and the best, with the biggest cash prizes.
The world’s first slide competition, with legendary Cliff Coleman, was part of an early Attack of Danger Bay.
Danger Bay put Pender Harbour on the gravity sports map with competitors from all over the world, longboard hockey, women’s races, May Day parade participation, and of course the cash prizes.
Danger Bay is organized by Coast Longboarding. All entrants MUST pre-register, and anyone wanting to stay at the campsite MUST pre-register. Check the Coast Longboarding message board for updates.

Team Green
Team Green was founded in 2003 by fellow longboard racers and Pender Harbour boys Scott “Scoot” Smith, Bricin “Striker” Lyons, Rylan “Raggie” English, Sandy “Sandman” Charlton and Mike “Broozen” Roosen. Green hair, green gear, environmental awareness and a go-faster mindset identifies each and all of them.

Scoot Smith
Scott “Scoot” Smith is an IGSA (International Gravity Sports Association) World Champion, PHSS grad, Team Green member and Pender Harbour resident.
He won the 2008 IGSA cup with 1,783 points and a comfortable lead over top competitors from around the globe. He placed second in 2009 with 1,740 points, only 46 behind winner Mischo Erban, and fourth in 2010 with 1,629 points for the season.
Coast Longboarding
Coast Longboarding, the world’s largest longboard network, hosts the annual Attack of Danger Bay (see above), encourages and supports new riders, helps sponsor riders in circuit races and creates an organization for the Canadian West Coast longboard community.
Founded by the irrepressible Bricin “Striker” Lyons, Coast Longboarding started with a handful of Pender Harbour teenagers, but turned into something much, much bigger when Lyons decided to invite non-local longboarders to experience the sport on the Sunshine Coast with a downhill race in Pender Harbour, the annual Attack of Danger Bay.
