Miscellaneous Groups
Local organizations are normally listed on the page most closely related to their activities, e.g. boating groups are listed on the Boating page. The groups on this page don’t fit well on any specific page, at least not yet.
Business Groups
Chamber of Commerce, Pender Harbour and District
Formed to replace a disbanded Board of Trade, this group suffers from a lackluster history, ever-changing executive and largely non-participatory membership. Focused on tourism, they mostly struggle to operate Info Centre and public washrooms in Madeira Park.
Growth & Development Partnership, Pender Harbour
This group formed in 1999 with the lofty goal of making Pender Harbour, “... the finest of places of live, work, and enjoy for residents and visitors alike,” with the help of Community Futures and other stakeholders. Under their umbrella, unregistered groups can provide tax receipts for donations.
Projects include beautification of downtown Madeira Park and development of the Iris Griffith Wetlands. In 2007, the group was awarded a grant for eco/cultural tourism development.
