Seniors
Pender Harbour is a retirement community, and a popular destination for vacationing seniors.
There are more seniors in Pender Harbour than any other age demographic, and they comprise nearly 40% of all seniors on the Sunshine Coast; considerably higher than the British Columbia average. In 2006, there were over 600,000 seniors in the province, and that is expected to double in 20 years. In other words, you’ve got lots of company!

Housing
Statistics Canada tells us that nearly all Pender Harbour seniors over 65 live alone in their own homes.
Abbeyfield House
The Area A Seniors Housing Society (above: Organizations) has been fundraising since 2002 to build an Abbeyfield House at the Lily’s Lake Village subdivision. Offsite Link: Pender Harbour Abbeyfield House.
Lily’s Lake Village
In 2003, the Seniors Housing Society (above: Organizations) succeeded in their campaign for approval of developer Ryan Campbell’s donation of footprint property onsite for an Abbeyfield House (above) in exchange for high-density zoning of this subdivision.
